TCR Advanced SL Fork Product Recall Information

Working in voluntary cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Giant Bicycle is providing a replacement fork for 2009 TCR Advanced SL and SL(ISP) bicycles and frames.

Consumers who have purchased 2009 model year TCR Advanced SL and SL (ISP) bicycles and frames should read the details below and immediately contact an authorized Giant Bicycle dealer for a free inspection and replacement fork.

Name of product: 2009 model year TCR Advanced SL and SL (ISP) Bicycles and Frames

Units: About 1,000

Importer: Giant Bicycle, Inc. of Newbury Park, Calif.

Hazard: The density of the steerer tubes can cause the forks to crack and break, posing a fall hazard to the consumer.

Incidents/Injuries: Giant Bicycle has received one report of the fork cracking with no reported injuries.

Description: This recall involves 2009 TCR Advanced SL Team, SL 0, SL 1, SL 2, and SL (ISP) model bicycles and frames in silver, charcoal, blue and red. The words "Giant" and "TCR Advanced SL" are printed on the frame. Steerer tubes with "B", "N" or "P" at the end of the serial number are not included in this recall. Other "TCR" model bicycles are not included in the recall.

Sold by: Authorized Giant Bicycle dealers nationwide from August 2008 through December 2008 for between $3,300 and $7,500.

Manufactured in: Taiwan

Remedy: Consumers should stop riding these bicycles immediately and contact an authorized Giant Bicycle dealer for a free inspection and replacement fork.

The BVK-Ripper

For all those wondering if the Ibis Mojo is up to the task of shredding gnar! Boys around the Science have been building the Ibis to do just that! 6 inch 20mm dual arch Magura front suspension, DHX 5.0 rear suspension 819's on Wrench Science orange Kings.....Wooooohwoooo! I think Ibis caught a flu cuz this Mojo is Sick! Blake Von Knopka hands down is the single most Avid rider I know. If he aint riding he's thinking about riding if he's not thinking about riding. He's most likely dreaming about riding. He is a riding fiend and we here at W.S. love em' for it! He will chew your ear off to get you on your bike. Check out some pics of the BVK-Ripper!

Mavic R-SYS Recall

This notice is addressed to users of R-SYS front wheels.
Annecy, January 5th 2009.

As part of its ongoing commitment to customer safety and satisfaction, Mavic has announced a voluntary recall of its R-SYS front wheels as a precautionary safety measure.

Mavic has identified that the carbon tubular spokes of the R-SYS front wheel may break during use in certain circumstances and causing the rider to lose control and possibly fall, potentially sustaining injury.

All models of Mavic R-SYS front wheels are concerned (R-SYS, R-SYS test, R-SYS Premium), whether purchased separately or as part of a bicycle. The wheels must no longer be used.

Consumers should immediately return their front wheel to a Mavic dealer; and a new upgraded R-SYS front wheel will be delivered free of charge. This exchange will start from 31st of March 2009. Until this date, and to facilitate the continued use of your bicycle, Mavic will offer a set of Aksium wheel that customers will keep after they have received the replacement R-SYS front wheel.

Bicycles with RockShox Bicycle Forks Recalled by SRAM LLC Due to Crash Hazard

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Bicycles using RockShox Domain 302 and 318 bicycle forks

Units: About 175

Importer: SRAM LLC, of Chicago, Ill.

Hazard: The steel steerer on the forks can crack, causing the fork to detach from the bicycle frame. This can cause the rider to lose control and crash.

Incidents/Injuries: One incident with a minor injury has been reported. Two other incidents without injury have been reported outside of the United States.

Description: The recall involves RockShox Domain 302 and 318 bicycle forks with steel steerer sold for installation on new bicycles. Only those forks manufactured between March 2008 and October 2008 with dates codes 09T8 through 42T8 are included in this recall. The date code is located on the back of the fork crown and on the lower leg. The RockShox Domain fork was installed on Transition Bottle Rocket bicycles, and may have been installed on Rocky Mountain Flatline 1, Rocky Mountain Slayer SS350, and Rocky Mountain Slayer SS396 bicycles.

Sold at: Specialty bicycle retailers nationwide from March 2008 through November 2008 for between $1,600 and $3,100.

Manufactured in: Taiwan

Remedy: Consumers should stop using bicycles equipped with these forks immediately and contact their bicycle retailer for a free replacement fork.
