Litespeed Archon C1R w/ SRAM RED BLACK & Reynolds Assult Wheelset

Our very own Tyler Miller finished his 2011 Litespeed Archon C1R set up with Sram Red BLACK with 2010 Reynolds Assault C Wheelset. Even with a broken collar bone, Tyler still can't resist the temptation to ride this bike. Feel free to contact him for more details on this bike at Tylerm@wrenchscience.com

Eye Candy from the store

It's Wednesday (aka hump-day), figure we could all use a lil eye-candy to keep the day going.

2012 Shimano XT and XTR

For 2012, Shimano decides to give the Deore XT group a full make-over and XTR Shadow a new rear derailleur, naming it XTR SHADOW PLUS. The changes for the XT grouppo aren't just color options (now available in Black or traditional Silver), but they decided to take a lot of the 2011 XTR performance and applied them to the 2012 Deore XT while still making it quite affordable. As for the 2012 Shimano XTR SHADOW PLUS rear derailleur, Shimano found a way to keep that annoying chain slap out of the picture with a new feature. Check it!

Weekend Extravaganza!

For those of you in SF, here's a couple of nice events this weekend. Great time to meet new people, enjoy the sun, and show off your Cinelli MASH! (the following were taken off the original posts from MASH SF and Red Bull USA)

Saturday:

Red Bull RIDE + Style
Red Bull Ride and Style

On April 30, San Francisco’s Justin Herman Plaza will serve as the setting for a collision of fixed gear biking and urban contemporary art, creating a visually exciting and awe-inspiring event called Red Bull Ride + Style.

The event will feature riders facing off in both track and freestyle competitions, with the obstacles designed and decorated by local San Francisco artists. Red Bull Ride + Style will bring together more than 50 riders from both coasts, with riders from fixed gear meccas San Francisco, Portland and New York competing, as well as riders from Japan.

The track portion of the event will include a custom art installation by California-based artists Mark Grieve and Ilana Spector. By day, the duo collects debris of discarded bike parts from the dumpsters of nonprofit bike groups, and by night, they then work to reconfigure these pieces, making them into works of art. For the event, they will be creating a one-of-a-kind starting line arch.

The track competition will begin with qualifying runs, and the riders with the best 16 times will advance. From there, the competition will be bracketed out so the top 16 will compete head-to-head until there is one winner left.

The obstacles for the freestyle portion of the event will be built by well known ramp builder Jeremy Witek, and the custom features will don artwork by urban contemporary artists Aaron De La Cruz, Erik Otto, N8 Van Dyke and Arlo Eisenberg.

The four artists will work as a collective, and by merging together their unique styles they will bring the freestyle portion of the event to life through a clever juxtaposition of objects. They will play with the elements of space, dimension and movement, creating an inspiring course for both the riders and spectators.

  • The freestyle competition will group the competitors into five different heats, six riders in each.

  • The riders will have a 15 minute jam session to showcase their style and tricks and the judges will pick the best riders from each heat to advance to the final round. The final round will include approximately 10 riders that will compete for the top spot.

Date and Time:

Sunday:

We were content giving away pints of strawberries as race prizes for next weekends event, then friends at INCASE offered up a thousand dollars in cash to stoke the fire. They have worked with us on our annual race in Las Vegas, and really happy to have them cheering for racers right here in SF.

500$ for first fixed.

500$ for first geared.

There will be many other awards, and will announce them as we draw closer to next weekends event.

Who loves cash?!

Thanks to Incase for taking care of these competitive street cyclists!

Look for more info next week!

Saturday Outing!

Looks like this Saturday will be packed with some nice, fun rides. Only to have it followed by the SF Underground Market!

Here's their blurb on the event:

The SF Underground Market is a venue where you can taste and purchase the food that is being produced in backyards and home kitchens in the Bay Area.

To sell at a farmers market, you need to produce your wares in a commercial kitchen. This is an impossible expense for many of us, so the underground farmers market is about helping to get some exposure for all of our fellow producers without the cash for a commercial kitchen.

These are veterans, people who’ve been making their products for years, but only able to share them with friends. We thought we’d give them a venue to share with the whole SF food community. If you are interested in becoming a vendor, click here to read more.

A market, and a live show, all rolled into one. Think a farmers market, but at night, with music and drinks.

To attend the market, you need to be a (free) member of the SF Underground Market, please sign up here

If you are interested in volunteering at the Underground Market, click here to sign up.

Questions, comments, please email markets@foragesf.com

Scott releases news of their new road weapon: SCOTT FOIL

Scott Addict has been known as one of the lightest bikes available on the market today. Just when we think they're content with the Addict, Scott decides to surprise us with the release of their newest bike, SCOTT FOIL.

Introducing new whip from Ibis: MOJO SL-R

April 14th, 2011, marks a new day for Ibis. Being a Nor-cal based manufacture, it isn't surprising that they chose the same date as Sea Otter Classic opening day to release their brand new frame (not that we're complaining since we'll be down there as well to gawk at the new frameset). Make sure to stop by Ibis' booth this weekend to see it in person.

COLNAGO CX1 EVO LANDS ON PODIUM WITH WIN AT GP PINO CERAMI

The 36-year-old Scheirlinckx earned his first victory since 2002 in a daring four-man breakaway that held on to challenge for the spoils in the 199.2km race.

The Belgian veteran used his savvy ,and the CX1 to fend off Marco Marcato in a long sprint to claim the most important victory of his career.

“I was disappointed at the Tour of Flanders because I missed the group of favourites. Despite the disappointment, I knew the legs were good,” he said. “In the breakaway today, I knew right away that the most dangerous would be Marcato. To win, I had to use all of my experience. That’s why I tried to surprise Marcato with a long sprint.”

The victory is the third on the 2011 season for Landbouwkrediet, and Colnago.

COLNAGO C59 GOES 1-2 IN OPENING STAGE OF COPPI E BARTALI

Manuel Belletti (Colnago CSF Inox C59) kicked to victory in the 81.2km stage at Riccione that saw two crashes in the bunch in the final kilometers. It was the second victory of the year for Belletti.

Andrea Grendene (Team Type 1 – sanofi-aventis) crossed the line second to give Colnago two spots on the winner’s podium for the morning stage.

"The final lap there was an attack by FDJ that we chased down and then Liquigas attacked twice. The team worked hard and brought me up to the finish on a very long and straight road into a headwind. In the final 300 meters I moved left and came from behind Jure for the sprint, but the pack moved left into me and I was second,” Grendene said. “It was great work on a short and technical course.” This should prove to be a fruitful year for Colnago, with wins like this 2011 if going to be an exciting one.
