The Ultimate Look 695 Mondrian - LOOK!

Hello again computerized people! This is Cal at Wrench Science with an art exhibit on wheels! Tom from Modesto came to me one glorious Berkeley day - with true artistic flare, and a little wildness in his eyes - demanding the perfect build to compliment his Look 695 frameset in the classic Mondrian paint scheme.

A little education! Piet Mondrian was a Dutch painter, famous for his primary colors on white backgrounds inside horizontal and vertical black lines - if you are a road cycling fan you would recognize the style from the logo of the LOOK Cycle brand. The powerhouse La Vie Claire cycling team of the mid 1980s also featured the Mondrian style on their team kits - both Bernard Hinault and Greg LeMond took the colors to Tour de France victory.

Tom chose Campagnolo Super Record, Campagnolo Eurus 2-Way Fit wheels, and 3T Ergonova Team handlebars. His 695 features the ZED2 oversized, one-piece, carbon crankset. It can accept standard or compact chainrings from Praxis Works.

The Look C-Stem, another giant, unorthodox, carbon piece to drool over.

Color was king for this build. Tom and I wanted to compliment the frame without using too much of a single color. Arundel Gecko Grip handlebar tape in blue was the perfect primary blue color. The Fizik Aliante saddle and Campagnolo Eurus wheels bring out the white - a key part of the Mondrian scheme that could easily be overlooked.

Now for the surprising part! Tom came in for his complimentary fitting, and out of his magic musette came a pair of pristine condition 1988 Look road shoes in the Mondrian colors. He bought them new in 1988. Modern Look cleats fit perfectly, Tom chose the Look Blade Carbon pedals.

Nothing makes us happier than another satisfied customer with a truly unique bike.

What's your vision? We can make it happen at Wrench Science!

Tom has been a friend of the family for longer than I have been alive. My mom sent me some photos of him with the bike right after he got it back from WS, and I have seen it in person. It is absolutely gorgeous and Tom raves about the quality of service from you guys. I don't think I have ever wanted to steal a bike so bad!
